Easy fix

Installation Is Easy and Hassle Free

Our secondary glazing units can be installed directly onto the existing window frame using either our equal leg or odd leg profile. Alternatively, they can be secured through the side of the frame into the reveal, using the equal leg frame only.

resolving potential issues

Versatile For Any Property

If the existing windows are uneven or uniquely shaped, a wooden sub-frame can be used for a precise fit. All systems can be customized with various glass options to enhance thermal insulation, soundproofing, and security.

Sound reduction

How is Noise Insulation Achieved?

Secondary glazing is an effective method of reducing noise pollution, whether you are looking to protect from noise, for example road traffic, or retain noise, for example pubs and clubs.

A larger gap, or ‘cavity,’ between the existing window and the secondary glazing significantly improves soundproofing. For optimal noise reduction, we recommend a minimum cavity of 100mm. This can reduce road traffic noise by approximately 70-80%, with even greater reduction possible when using acoustic glass or liners.

A variety of glass options are available to maximize sound reduction. Using glass of a different thickness than the existing window helps disrupt sound frequencies, improving noise control. Acoustic laminated glass, with a special interlayer, is particularly effective for reducing high-frequency noise like aircraft sounds.

Secondary glazing also enhances thermal insulation, minimizing heat loss through windows. This helps conserve energy and lower fuel costs.

IMPROVED INSULATION

Keeping Your Home Nice & Warm

Secondary glazing helps eliminate drafts, enhancing comfort while reducing airborne dust inside a building.

It also supports compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations, updated in October 2010 with the introduction of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs). These certificates assess a building’s energy efficiency and can influence property valuations.

Even with standard clear glass, secondary glazing improves thermal insulation, but for the best results, Pilkington K Low-e glass is recommended. This low-emissivity glass reflects heat from fires and radiators back into your home while allowing solar heat in, enhancing energy efficiency. By reducing heat loss, it lowers energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and heating costs.

Ideal for period properties where window replacement isn’t possible, secondary glazing is discreet from the outside and unobtrusive inside, providing added comfort and security without compromising the view.
